Multidimensional Pattern Matching: A Survey
نویسنده
چکیده
We review some recent algorithms motivated by computer vision. The problem inspiring this research is that of searching an aerial photograph for all appearances of some object. The issues we discuss are local errors, scaling, compression and dictionary matching. We review deterministic serial techniques that are used for multidimensional pattern matching and discuss their strengths and weaknesses.

Pattern Matching in Multidimensional Time Series
Based on the algorithm for pattern matching in a character string, a pattern description language (PDL) is developed. The compilation of a regular expression, that conforms to the PDL, creates a nondeterministic pattern matching machine (PMM) that can be used as a searching device for detecting sequential patterns or functional (statistical) relationships in multidimensional data. As an example...
متن کاملA Procedure for Biological Sensitive Pattern Matching in Protein Sequences
A Procedure for fast pattern matching in protein sequences is presented. It uses a biological metric, based on the substitution matrices as PAM or BLOSUM, to compute the matching. Biological sensitive pattern matching does pattern detection according to the available empirical data about similarity and affinity relations between amino acids in protein sequences. Sequence alignments is a string ...

متن کاملSIA(M)ESE: An efficient algorithm for transposition invariant pattern matching in multidimensional datasets
In this paper, we study pattern matching in multidimensional datasets. The aim is to find translation (transposition) invariant occurrences of a given query pattern, called template, in an arbitrary multidimensional dataset. Between the points in the dataset that have been found to match the consecutive points in the template, there may be any finite number of other intervening datapoints. For ...
متن کاملSize Theory and Shape Matching: A Survey
This paper investigates current research on size theory. The research reviewed in this paper includes studies on 1-D size theory, multidimensional size theory and their applications to shape matching. This survey will also address the connections between the size theoretical approach and other approaches to shape matching.
